So Much For My Goal...

Well, I did not accomplish my goal of posting once a week through August. I have some excuses, namely my dad had quintuple (yeah, that's 5) by-pass heart surgery on August 18th. Life was pretty hectic for the last half of August.

Ms. Bug and I flew down to Mom and Dad's for the surgery and to aide in my dad's recovery. None of us knew what exactly to expect. Daddy is only 53 years old, not obese, in decent-ish shape and active. We certainly weren't expecting him to need his chest cracked open and 5 by-passes to keep his heart pumping...

Honestly, it's only by the grace of God that he never had a heart attack. It was also a huge blessing that he paid enough attention to his body to know when something was off and he needed to get it checked out. I'm so grateful to the doctors who were able to "fix" him, all the support that my dad received from friends and family, all the prayers from anyone who knew about his condition, and that I was able to take my "job" (Ms. Bug) with me to be able to go down and help Mom and Dad for a couple of weeks while Dad was unable to drive.

We've been home now for a couple of weeks, and we're getting settled back into our "normal" (if there ever was such a thing!). I must say that there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed in your own home. There's also much to be said for having a place for your things and doing things the way you want them done. I'm also glad to have my sewing machine back at my fingertips, whenever I get the wild hair to sew something.

Ok, enough for now. Time to get laundry into the wash!
